Former Ivory Coast and France international team boss, Henri Michel, has
died aged 70.
Michel managed the French national team for four years in 1984 and is
also regarded as a Nantes legend after making over 500 appearances.
Michel became an African veteran manager as he coached Morocco for two
stints, Tunisia at the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations, and the Ivory Coast
during the 2006 World Cup.
The veteran manager who was born in Aix, south of France, played for
their local side for two years before joining Nantes in 1966.

That was where he remained for the entirety of his playing career,
endearing himself to supporters by winning three league titles in the
16-years he spent with the club.
Nantes would pay an emotional tribute, by writing: "A legend. The
legend. FC Nantes has just learned with immense sadness the
disappearance of its ex-captain Henri Michel."
Michel took a step into management with the France under-21 side before
being promoted to the senior team.
He then guided the side to gold at the 1984 Summer Olympics and finished
third at the World Cup two years later.
He then went onto manage Paris Saint-Germain, who paid the tribute:
"Former coach of Paris Saint-Germain, a great gentleman and a character
of French football has passed away.
"Our condolences to the family and relatives of Henri Michel."
The French Football Federation in their tribute to the veteran manager
wrote on Twitter: "Henri Michel, former player and coach, died this
morning at the age of 70."
Tributes continued to pour in for Michel with OGC Nice writing: "OGC
Nice sends it deepest condolences to the family of Henri Michel, his
family and @FCNantes."
Ex-PSG and Hull defender Bernard Mendy commented: "All my condolences to
the family and friends of Henri Michel. #BigHeart."

Former France international Rio Mavuba also tweted: "My sincere
condolences to the family of Henri Michel. Rest in peace and thank you
again for all that you have brought us."
A host of Ligue 1 clubs expressed their sadness on Twitter including
Lyon, AS Monaco and Stade Malherbe Caen.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com also reported the death of former Sutton United and
England women manager, Barrie Williams, who died at the age of 79.
The veteran manager famously guided the non-league side to victory over
then first division club Coventry City in the FA Cup third round in
1989.
