Lukaku breaks another goals record
Romelu Lukaku was on the scoresheet again for Belgium in Saturday’s
thumping 5-2 victory over Tunisia as he broke Jan Ceulemans’s goals
record for major tournaments.
Lukaku
registered his third and fourth strikes of the 2018 World Cup in the
first half in Moscow and in doing so he made it seven goals in major
tournaments to take him ahead of Ceulemans at the top of the Belgium
scoring charts.
The United
striker is already his country’s record goalscorer and he’ll be
delighted to have reached another landmark as he continues to impress in
Russia. Roberto Martinez was taking no chances with his star frontman
though after he received treatment on his ankle during the first half.
And he departed the action as a precaution on 59 minutes, to be replaced
by his Reds' team-mate Marouane Fellaini.
The win for
Belgium keeps them top of Group A and their place in the last 16 will be
confirmed on Sunday if England avoid defeat to Panama.
